About the speaker

I am a biophysicist with a long-term interest in photosynthesis and microscopy. During my research career, I have studied both, photosynthetic function (photoprotection, electron transport) and the organization and mobility of proteins in thylakoids. In recent years, I have aimed to link between photosynthetic function with the spatial organization of thylakoid membrane proteins into microdomains at single-cell level. For that purpose, I have actively adapted advanced microscopic methods to study photosynthetic proteins (Airyscan-super-resolution, FRAP, FCS, RICS) in different photothrophs (e.g. cyanobacteria, cryptophytes, red algae etc.).
